Petra Green set up Room39 in 2010 after spending over a decade working as a lingerie designer for some of the biggest names on the high street. 

 

'Room39 was born out of a very personal desire to bring to market a more 'democratic' product design that would appeal to men and women alike, regardless of age.'

 

is a London based home decor brand and online shop owned by designer Petra Green. The starting point for Petra, was to create playful, informal environments that transcend the limitations of gender, age and function. Her vision and her design ethos behind the Room39 brand was to bring to market functional items, with a ‘twist on tradition’, to reflect a lighthearted approach. Central to the Room39 business ethos is to support small craft- based businesses, that manufacture in an ethical fashion using environmentally friendly materials and methods.
“We live in a throw-away society where so much is mass manufactured. Cheap product comes at a price and that is usually at the cost of quality and/or fair payment of labour. Room39 was born out of a desire to make beautiful, inspired product, sometimes handmade, and sometimes not, but always to a very high, almost bespoke standard. Our products range in price so they don’t challenge affordability completely, but do ask that the consumer appreciate the origin of what they’re buying and the effort put into making it. Room39 is about products to love, cherish, enjoy and share.”
